Commercial Real Estate Market Recovery Continues to Lag Behind the Overall Economy
The "jobless recovery" in the economy continues to impact demand for space in the office and industrial sectors. Registered users can access complete details by logging in. Q1 2010 Quarterly Results Highlights
- Our database includes 8,097 office buildings, totaling more than 572 million sf, in 21 major, secondary and smaller markets across Canada.
- There are 6,384 buildings, or more than 488 million sf located in Canada's major markets.
- There are currently 4,162 Class A, B and C office buildings, 20,000 square feet or greater, in Canada's six major markets totaling 445 million sf - 90.0%, or 400 Million sf is currently occupied.
- 47 buildings currently under construction in the six major markets, totaling 13.0 million sf, 67.4%, or 8.7 million sf, of that is currently pre-leased.
- 15 buildings were completed in the six major markets this quarter, totaling 2.9 million sf, with 74.7%, or 1.4 million sf of that currently leased.
Survey Results Indicate Investors More Confident
The Q1 2010 Investment Trends Survey reports improving conditions and growing investor confidence in the Canadian commercial real estate market. Overall, the survey results reflect strengthening interest in the retail sector, continued support for the Industrial and Multi Family sectors and caution in the Office market.
